ESF Head Student Conference - 19th June 2012

On Tuesday the 19th of June, we held the first ever ESF Head Student Conference, an idea of James'. Taking place here at WIS, we invited the Head Students/Prefects from KGV, South Island and Island School to discuss  problems and issues that we thought were present at all schools, and tried to find common solutions by discussing our various ways of dealing with them.

One main area of discussion was the Student Leadership structure at each school, and how Island School's is completely crazy. With 42 school prefects, and then some more prefects to do something else, and then another group for...well, whatever, it didn't make sense. Since then they've made some big changes, and it looks a lot more like the West Island model (the best model). Success!

We're looking forward to the next conference, this time with Sha Tin College as well, on the 24th of September but this time at KGV.

Head Boy Profile!

Name: Joe Wyatt

Age: 17

Dynasty: Song

Nationality: British

One interesting fact about yourself?: My first concert was the Click Five. http://dft.ba/-3yOS

What do you like most about WIS?:
It is weird to say the actual classes? It's pretty much the only reason my family are still in Hong Kong; the education for my brother and I.
That and the fact that I can feel completely comfortable and at ease whatever I'm doing in school, even in front of everyone at assembly. Probably explains the sense of humour.

Favourite Movie/Music: Not big into films, but the Godfather is a must see for everyone. Anything Matt Stone and Trey Parker touch is hilarious (Team America, Orgasmo). The Full Monty is brilliant as well, and reminds me of home.
Like a true white kid, I love Rap music...Gambino is a mastermind.

Favourite Joke: This changes daily, but anything with word play really tickles. This is great:  “Last night my girlfriend and I watched three DVDs back to back. Luckily I was the one facing the telly. ”Tim Vine

Superpower?: Psychokinesis, mainly cuz of this guy.

Favourite Quote: 'Maturity is knowing when and where to be immature'.

For motivation to do your work... it helps sometimes

and 'Life is not the amount of breath you takes, it's the moments that take your breath away'

Favourite Song:
Currently I've been obsessed with this song called Santeria
and gangnam style.  Cannot get that song out of my head

Favourite actor:
Dustin Hoffman, Rennee Zellweger (her performance in Chicago, amazing)

And um... I'm a tiny bit obsessed with Christian Bale.

Favourite Joke:
I really have an awful sense of humour as you can probably tell by some of my lame puns and odd speeches.  'Two peanuts walked into a bar.  One was a salted'

I really enjoy seeing all those colours coming together in a vibrant sea of excitement on sports day! ..and like Kim, of course West Island would not be the same without all the events that we hold :)

Favourite colour: uhh...this is so hard but Probably yellow, white, or aqua! :p
