ESF Head Student Conference - Number 2 !

On Thursday the 4th of October, we attended the second ESF Head Student Conference.  We trekked to KGV to continue our discussions from the last meeting, meeting with KGV, Island and South Island. We talked about leadership structure in each of the schools again, and gained a deeper appreciation for our simple and effective structure (not being biased, we swear).  South Island School also talked about the possibility of having an ESF wide charity platform, almost like a gateway system with the sole purpose of allowing students to sign up to charities and charity events.  More on that later, when the proposal has been examined by the ESF!

We're looking forward to our third conference next term!  If you would like us to ask the Head Students from different schools any questions, please comment!

Peace out.

IB Conference !

Hello again!
On 29th September, we were given the opportunity to speak at an International Baccalaureate Conference held at West Island for teachers, principals and educators in general from all across Asia.
We were asked to speak about our life as students at West Island School, as well as our experiences during the past two years as IB students. Reflecting was an interesting and fulfilling experience and you can view our speech below!

Swimming Gala and Sports Festival 2012!

SWIMMING GALA (and sports festival) has sadly come and gone.

On a brilliant and glorious Thursday morning, we congregated at the pool, pumped and ready to compete.  With the chanting, cheering and dynasty captains (and us!) looking ridiculous in costumes, the air was teeming with the wondrous smell of team spirit.

Fierce dynasty pride as always was on show during the swimming gala.  Students were belting out their chants, cheering people on in their team and swimming for their dynasty.

Congratulations to the Tangers for breaking the Songers winning streak!

WE'VE BEEN TANGOED!

Dynasty Assemblies! 24/9/12

Han, Ming, Qing, Song, Tang and Yuan; 6 groups that over the past twenty years have fostered feverous competition, sporting excellence and a true sense of school spirit. The dynasty system is at the very heart of our school and was at the heart of this assembly.

First of all, the new Dynasty representatives from all year groups were announced. The Dynasty Captains then performed a skit, demonstrating the crazed madness of a typical Captains meeting! They then presented a series of videos, one from each dynasty, preparing everyone for this year's Swimming Gala. Brilliant effort once again!
