YEAR 13 GRADUATION

The year 13 formal was a glamorous affair. Following the theme of old hollywood, it featured beautiful dresses, vintage wine and a red carpet. The evening began with a cocktail reception for students and their families, where students had their photo's taken against a wonderful backdrop featuring the names of everyone in year 13. At 7:30, families said their tearful goodbyes as the year 13's were ushered into the banquet hall.
Video's previously created by tutor groups thanking their tutors were played as teachers and students alike indulged in good food and great wine.

After the head student's speeches
Kim, Joe, Rhea and James concluded the evening with a brilliant speech, and Rhea, true to her word, did not cry!

A big congratulations to the year 13's! After surviving seven years of high school, including two gruelling years of the IB, they have finally finished! We wish them the best of luck with their future plans and hope they will remember their time at West Island with happiness.

A huge thank you is due to the formal committee for organising the event, especially to Nikki Spurdle, who spent the entire night making sure everyone was having a great time. Lizzy and Olivia, who will be  organising the formal next year were also present, to take down some ideas!

Lastly, a big thank you to Emily Cheng, who was the official photographer of the night.

Have a great weekend!

READING WEEK - DAY 1

Where's Wally?
Students and staff of West Island brought to life the characters from many beloved stories, with the English faculty dressing up as The Wizard of Oz, the Maths faculty dressing up as A Thousand Splendid Suns, and dozens of Harry Potter's roaming the corridors. We decided to join the fun too, by following the theme of one of our favourite books growing up - Where's Wally!

A special mention to the dynasty captains for 23 great dalmatians and one fantastic Cruella de Ville. Overall, everyone had great costumes, and we can't wait to see what the rest of Reading Week has in store for West Island!

A big hello from the new head student team! We're extremely grateful for the incredible opportunity we've been given, and we hope that over the next few months we will be able to show the students and staff of West Island School our dedication and commitment to our new roles!

A shout out is due to the previous head student team. Joe, Kim, Rhea and James, you have left some big (and impressionable) shoes to fill, and we hope that we will be able to live up to your legacy. Good luck with the rest of your exams, and we wish you all the best for the future!

Head Student Instagram
What have we been up to recently?

Firstly, we have created a head student Instagram page as an easy way to update everyone on what we have been up to. Please follow us!

Secondly, we have made some changes to wisdom. Hopefully, you all have noticed the poll every monday, where we ask students to share their opinions on uniform, food and other areas around West Island. Also, every friday, there is now a fun poll (often featuring Mr. Walker) as well as a Global News Roundup in the daily notices.

We have many more idea's to come, so look out!

New Dynasty Captains

Lastly, we'd like to congradulate all the new dynasty captains! Already, they have been a pleasure to work with and we hope to continue the great relationship that was established by the previous head students and dynasty captions.

Have a great weekend!
